Enrooted. Samorost can use its bonus action to enroot itself into the ground at the start of its next turn. While enrooted, Samorost’s movement speed is reduced to 0, its AC is increased to 18 against ranged attacks and all damage dealt to it is halved. Samorost can use its bonus action to end the Enrooted condition.
Each time Samorost would be forcibly moved by an effect while Enrooted, it makes a DC 16 (or higher depending on the effect’s ordinary DC if it has one) Strength saving throw, losing the Enrooted condition on a failure.
If a creature is grappling Samorost, they can spend half of their maximum movement to end its Enrooted condition.
Crushing Roots. Creatures restrained by Samorost’s abilities take 15(2d8+6) bludgeoning damage at the start of each of their turns. A creature can use their action to attempt to escape or rescue a creature within reach (Escape DC 19).
Giga Drain. Samorost can use its bonus action to choose a creature restrained by its abilities. That creatures takes 9(2d8) necrotic damage and Samorost regains Hit Points equal to the damage dealt
Burn and Wither. If a creature restrained by Samorost’s abilities takes fire or necrotic damage, Samorost takes equal amount of that damage as well and the restrained condition ends for the creature.
Actions.
- Multiattack. Samorost makes any three Root attacks.
- Grasping Root. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 90 ft., one target. Hit: 15(2d8+6) bludgeoning damage and the target is restrained. This attack emerges from the ground, giving it the following special properties:
- It cannot target creatures that are more than 10 ft. above ground or standing on solid stone, magical or otherwise special surface
- It ignores cover.
- Pushing Root. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 24(3d8+6) bludgeoning damage and the target is pushed 20 ft. away from Samorost. If the target collides with a solid object, they take extra 1d8 bludgeoning damage
- Sprawling Root. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 30 ft., three targets. Hit: 15(2d8+6) bludgeoning damage. This attack can target up to three targets, but they all must be within 15 ft of each other. Creatures hit by this attack are pushed until they are all within 5 ft. of each other.
- Rock Throw Root. Ranged Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, range 60/240 ft., one target. Hit: 15(2d8+6) bludgeoning damage.
- Harvest. All creatures restrained by Samorost take 15(2d8+6) bludgeoning damage and are moved up to 15 ft. to an unoccupied space of Samorost’s choosing.
