Rare Adventuring Gear (Painter’s Supplies), Requires Attunement 

  • When used as part of Painter’s Supplies, it gives a +1 bonus on ability checks made with them. 
  • Can be used to produce up to 15 ounces of any colours of your choice per short rest. 
  • Once per short rest, you can use this item to create the effects of the Color Spray (2nd level)

Power of Colours. When you finish a short rest, you can choose an item and attempt to paint it with a specific colour. If you succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity (Painter’s Supplies) check, the item gives additional bonuses to a creature while they are wearing or carrying it. 

These effects last until you finish a short rest. The specific colours give the following bonuses:

  • Red. The creature gains extra 10 maximum Hit Points 
  • Green. The creature is under the effects of the Speak with Animals spell and can also understand and speak with Plant creatures. They also cannot be restrained by plants.  
  • Blue. The creature’s spells deal 1 extra Force Damage, they gain 1 Temporary Hit Points each time they cast a spell, and each time the creature is damaged by a spell, it rolls a 1d4 and reduces the damage by the rolled amount (to a minimum of 1)
  • Yellow. The creature is immune to the Frightened condition and each time they take necrotic or psychic damage, they roll a 1d4 and reduce the damage by the rolled amount (to a minimum of 1). They also gain a +2 bonus to all Persuasion and Performance checks. 
  • Purple. The creature gains the ability to speak telepathically to any creature you can see within 60 of them. They can only speak telepathically using a language they know, and the targeted creature understands only if they know the language. The targeted creature doesn’t gain the ability to respond to you telepathically.  
  • Orange. The creature gains the ability to cast the Control Flames cantrip and the non-spell attack part of the Produce Flame cantrip using a bonus action, their weapon attacks deal extra 1 Fire damage, and each time they take Fire damage, they roll a 1d4 and reduce the damage by the rolled amount (to a minimum of 1).
    • This color can also instead be used to create the effects of the Heat Metal spell on the painted item.
